Kerala has seen an increase in number of tourists visiting the state from Australia. To increase those numbers Kerala Tourism Department Corporation has conducted road shows in Melbourne and Sydney last week. Currently Australia is the state’s sixth largest tourism market.
Kerala has organized road shows before as well; last road show was 2 years back. The event witnessed presence from around 70 wholesalers, tour operators and other travel agents from these two cities expressed their interest in what Kerala has to offer.
KTDC director U V Jose led a team that consisted of 12 major front runners in state’s tourism map. The participating trade partners included Abad hotels and resorts, CGH Earth, Chalukya Grace Tours Pvt. Ltd., Discover Kerala Holidays, Eastend Hotels & Resorts, Intersight Tours & Travels (P) Ltd., Kumarakom Lake Resort, Marvel Tours Pvt. Ltd., Pioneer Personalized Holidays and Spice Routes.
Road show focused presentation on variety of attractions and destinations in Kerala; it was not just about introducing new business and new collaborations. The promotional film ‘The Great Backwaters’ which had bagged many international awards were also screened at both events. The film focus on life in around the back waters of the Kerala.
Rakesh Malhotra and Vinod Bahade Consulate Generals of Indian consulate from both the cities Melbourne and Sydney respectively were the chief guests for the events.
There was also lucky draw contest “Go Kerala”, were one lucky winner will get a 7 night and 8 day holiday package in Kerala. Silk air was the campaign partner for the event, and the winner was offered a free return ticket Australia to Kerala in Singapore Airlines/Silk Air.
